The Music Of Shane MacGowan and the Pogues
Christmas Eve in the Drunk Tank - the Music of Shane MacGowan and The Pogues
Aloha folks,
I've put together a Xmas eve show to celebrate one of my favourite songwriters Shane MacGowan, with a huge band of musical legends and guest singers, including Fred Smith, Phil Moriarty, Konrad Lenz, Gemma Clare, Adam Bell and Steve Cullen and more.
The show is for one-night at the Polish White Eagle Club in Canberra, and as it's close to sold out, I wanted to give people an opportunity to enjoy the show, wherever you live.
We'll play two sets of Pogues songs, from 6.45-9pm on Xmas eve. For those who'd like to watch it another time, you'll have access to the link.
I'll be singing songs from my favourite two Pogues albums - Rum, Sodomy & the Lash, and If I Should Fall From Grace With God, and there will be plenty of songs from other Pogues albums, and some tunes from MacGowan's era with The Popes.
When i was a teenager learning to write songs, Shane MacGowan helped shine a light for me. With The Pogues, he hotwired traditional irish music and made a visceral, fever dream world come alive, and it smacked me in the face with all the beauty and the horror of the world.
It's an immense honour to sing these songs and bloody pleasure too!
Look forward to seeing you at the show
love
